CAP CANA CELEBRATES THE 7TH CAP CANA GOLF CUP

To conmemorate the thirteenth anniversary of the famous Punta Espada golf course, Cap Cana celebrated its traditional international “Cap Cana Golf Cup” tournament, in benefit of the Forjando un Futuro Foundation.

With the participation of 200 national and international players, from the United States, Spain, Canada, England and the Dominican Republic, the seventh edition of the golf cup was dedicated to the United Kingdom, recognizing the great contribution of this nation to golf. Participating golfers along with their companions, enjoyed a welcome cocktail at Eden Roc at Cap Cana and the lively anniversary party of Punta Espada in Los Establos, enlivened with a tribute to The Beatles and a tribute to Queen.

During the tournament, a tribute to Mr. Nigel Dougthy was dedicated, the first English member of the Punta Espada golf club. His wife Lucy Dougthy received the recognition plaque highlighting the humanistic qualities of her husband, which she continues at Cap Cana and the Dominican Republic.

The tournament was played under the modality of Scramble in Couples. Tim Ford and Sam Allen Mooch took the first place in category A; James Hunt and Tom Miller in second place; and Kevin Rodríguez and Enrique Rodríguez in third place. In category B, the first position corresponded to Leo Simó and Eduardo Lovatón; Casimiro Richiez and Rafael Canario in second place; and Carlos Medrano and Enrique Valverde, in third place. Category C was led by Douglas Brea and Ezequiel Pinillo in the first place; Amar Lamba and Heather Hafner in the second, third place went to Freddy Hawie and Karina Mabrich. César Rodríguez and Marcel Olivares won the best overall gross score.

The players enjoyed an exceptional golf course, living again the experience of competing in Punta Espada, the best golf course in the Caribbean and Mexico.
