Eden Roc Cap Cana, the luxury five-star resort in the Dominican Republic, this week held a grand opening of its brand new 30,000 square foot spa, Solaya Spa & Wellness Centre, on Global Wellness Day. As the first Natura Bissé branded Spa in the world, the unveiling of the spa’s $2m renovation programme within the Relais & Châteaux hotel was attended by key local wellness influencers, as well as key business figures from the area, including from both brands.

Solaya Spa & Wellness Centre’s expansive space includes 12 treatment rooms with indoor and outdoor cabins, a dedicated 1,200sqft anti-gravity yoga area with 12 individual aero yoga structures, an indoor and outdoor Aqua Garden with freshwater pool, a 3,000sqft state-of-the-art gym with an in-house personal fitness trainer and a new wellness bar with its own range of tropical fruit juices and smoothies. These facilities sit alongside the spa’s Swedish sauna, Hammam, rainfall showers and exterior Jacuzzi for the ultimate relaxation experience.

Eden Roc Cap Cana is working closely with its newly appointed spa brand, Natura Bissé, who have trained each of the spa’s staff. A European luxury skincare brand, Natura Bissé is a leader in innovation and development of facial and body cosmetics, known for its scientifically-tested products designed to fight skin aging and dullness. Each product is made to provide professional results to users without damaging the skin, and has been chosen as the first, official exclusive skincare brand of Forbes Travel Guide.

Guests can unwind and indulge in techniques and ingredients inspired by the region ́s distinct characteristics and unique traditions, such as the Islands Scents Massage and the Mango Pineapple Delight Full Body Wrap. Signature treatments include the Samunprai Massage, which offers a Thai technique giving pumping touches with heated bags to help relieve muscle and joint pains, and The Four Hands Massage sees two therapists working together in rhythmic harmony with specially-blended aromatherapy massage oils. The Natura Bissé Quirogolf Massage is also available to book; an exclusive and ground-breaking deep body massage performed with golf balls, using manoeuvres based on four pillars that act in synergy: relaxing, warming the muscles, therapeutic massage and improving flexibility. The extensive treatment menu also features Mum-To-Be Therapy to target the special needs at this time of life with a delicate massage for the heavy feeling in the legs and hydration for the stomach, hips and breasts with natural butters to restore elasticity to the skin.

Face care is well considered at Solaya Spa & Wellness Centre too, with the O2 Relax to release pure 02xygen molecules into the epidermal layer to re-energize natural cellular functions and eliminate toxins and pollutants suffered by those living in big cities, frequent flyers and smokers. Men are also well-catered for with the Gentleman Facial, which combines steaming towels and a stimulating face massage specifically designed for male skin to counteract the effects of under-eye circles, lack of time, stress and daily shaving that results in dull, lifeless skin.

The exclusive and therapeutic island-leading facilities are managed by highly-experienced Spa Director Pedro Castillo, who has a wealth of experience from international spas in Europe, the US, South America and the Caribbean within brands such as Dreams and Secrets.

Open daily from 9am to 6pm, the spa has been recognized in the Forbes Travel Guide SPA Ratings for 2019, being the first and only SPA in the Dominican Republic in the guide, and was recently nominated in the World Spa Awards for Best Spa in the Dominican Republic.
