TCM Classic Film Festival: Special Home Edition
This marathon celebrates the last 10 years of TCM’s great festival, which usually happens in Hollywood. The home edition features movies and festival moments from past years. The lineup includes A Hard Day’s Night (1964), with an intro from Alec Baldwin and Don Was at the 2014 festival and a Q&A with Eve Marie Saint before a screening of North by Northwest (1959) at the 2013 fest. The virtual shindig closes out with Victor/Victoria (1982) at 3:30 a.m. on Sunday morning. The livestream local music festival airs on the Badass Bands YouTube page with a combo of live and pre-recorded performances. The lineup includes Jeff Miller (Black Crystal Wolf Kids), Jessi Williams and Coyote, Austin Antoine, Bertrand Vellky, the Gooms, Lauren Ruth Ward and the Zmed Brothers. Funds raised will be split 50/50 between artists and local venue GoFundMe pages (going toward the staff of the Satellite and the Hi Hat).

YCP Live Reads
At 1 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays in April, the Latino Film Institute live streams script reading sessions from its Youth Cinema Project. Talented folks from shows such as Narcos Mexico, Queen of the South, Gentefied, Vida, The Sinner, Los Espookys and One Day at a Time read stories created by participants from the various California school districts. One World: Together At Home
Welcome to Live Aid for the COVID-19 era. Coordinated by Global Citizen with Lady Gaga, comedians, actors and musicians perform (from home) to show support for frontline healthcare workers and the World Health Organization. Participants include Alicia Keys, Amy Poehler, Juanes, Sofi Tucker, Jessie J, Hozier, Stevie Wonder, Awkwafina and dozens of others. The show is being broadcast on major networks and streaming services beginning at 11 a.m. PDT.

The Verdi Chorus
The Verdi Chorus holds its first online concert, streaming its spring 2018 program The Force of Destiny. This is the only choral group in Southern California that focuses primarily on music for opera choruses, and the concert features selections from three Verdi works (La forza del destino, Nabucco and the opening party scene of La Traviata) as well as Strauss’ Die Fledermaus. The concert will be shown on the Verdi Chorus website and will then be available on Facebook for 48 hours.

Doggo – A Dog Themed Art Show
Giant Robot opens an art show focusing our four-legged friends and fur babies. Curated by Cassia Lupo it features more than two dozen artists including Allison Bamcat, Angela Song, Deth P. Sun, Felix Galvan and Nikki Lukas Longfish. The opening happens on Instagram Live on Saturday at noon PDT. The works will be on view through May 15.

The International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam has made more than 800 films from its extensive collection available online, either for free or for a nominal amount. The free titles include Ukrainian Sheriffs, a “tragicomic portrait” of two sheriffs in a remote Ukrainian village, and Slaves, an animated documentary about two former child slaves kidnapped by the Sudanese military. Not all titles are available to stream worldwide.
