Now’s the time to begin planning winter getaways. And where could it be better to escape to than one of these new luxury properties opening in idyllic beach locations? Here’s a line-up of resorts to consider booking.
Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana, Dominican Republic (opening Nov. 1)
Sharing 40 acres on Juanillo Beach, the family-friendly Hyatt Ziva and the adults-only Hyatt Zilara in Cap Cana resort complex will include a total of 750 rooms. Each property will have access to the sprawling beachfront infinity pool, with a lazy river and waterslides on the Hyatt Ziva side, a wide range of dining options, and the 40,000-square-foot fitness center.
Cabrits Resort & Spa Kempinski Dominica, Dominica (opening Oct. 14)
Dominica will welcome its first five-star property when Cabrits Resort & Spa Kempinski opens this fall. Surrounded by Cabrits National Park, the 151-room resort boasts panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea and the protected tropical forest. Luxury amenities include an 8,000-square-foot spa, two floodlit tennis courts, four hot- and cold-water pools, and meeting space for executive retreats and intimate weddings. Four restaurants and bars offer both local and international cuisine, as well as “farm-to-table” and “sea-to-table” dining.
Zadún, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, Mexico (opening Oct. 15)
Nestled along a stretch of oceanfront, with panoramic views of the Sea of Cortez, Zadu´n combines natural beauty with casual luxury. Each of the 115 guest rooms and suites offer a private plunge pool and terrace, within 42 two-story villas placed gently along the natural slopes of the land. The resort’s dining options include a Latin American grill; a Mexican-street-food experience; an adults-only outlet offering fresh ceviche and catch-of-the day fare; and an agave bar serving handcrafted cocktails. Guests of Zadu´n will also have direct access to the sprawling Puerto Los Cabos Golf Course, adjacent to the hotel; and Spa Alkemia. It will be the fourth property in the luxury Ritz-Carlton Reserve portfolio.
Halepuna Waikiki by Halekulani, Hawaii (opening Oct. 25)
Guests will take in unobstructed views of Waikki at Halekulani’s new luxury boutique hotel. Rooms are located on the eighth and 23rd floors, with balconies overlooking Oahu’s vibrant neighborhood. The eighth floor is home to the hotel’s infinity pool and sun deck, cabanas, gardens, and a fitness studio. The hotel’s new full-service, all-day dining restaurant, Halekulani Bakery & Restaurant, will focus on using indigenous ingredients in each dish and offers a locally-inspired menu in a casual setting. The Bakery will feature a variety of pastries, cakes, and artisan breads.
Club Med Michès Playa Esmeralda, Dominican Republic (opening Nov. 23)
The “5-Trident” Club Med Michès Playa Esmeralda will mark the all-inclusive operator’s first premium resort in the Americas and its largest investment in the Caribbean in decades. Spanning 93 acres of pristine natural setting in Michès, the eco-friendly resort will introduce a new concept featuring four boutique villages – romance, relaxation, nature, or adventure – each presenting its own unique environment, activities and accommodations.
