Given the situation caused by the COVID- 19 in the travel and tourism sector, Hyatt stated, “we care about people so that they can be their best possible version”.

The hotel company carries out additional actions to take care of its members and guests who have chosen to visit its different lodging complexes in the world.

To do this, they eliminated the modification and cancellation charges until June 30, 2020.

“We are adjusting our policies to allow flexibility around travel at this time, extending the cancellation fee elimination period to June 30, 2020,” says the hotel.

Existing reservations for upcoming trips, until June 30, 2020, all existing reservations, reserved on or before April 1 and for arrivals until June 30, 2020 can be modified or canceled without additional charges, 24 hours before scheduled arrival time. These include reservations with the so-called ‘Advance Purchase Rate’.

With limited exceptions, reservations made between April 2, 2020 and June 30, 2020, for any future arrival dates, may be modified or canceled without additional charges up to 24 hours before the scheduled arrival time.

Reservations can be modified or canceled up to 24 hours before the scheduled arrival time on hyatt.com or through the World of Hyatt app.

The policies apply to reservations made directly through Hyatt, therefore, “guests who have booked through Online Travel Agencies, OTA, or other platforms, must contact them directly for information about their policies and receive assistance. ”

It is recalled that the policies do not apply to conventions or business groups due to the contractual nature of said reservations. The same considerations apply for the Dominican Republic, Playa Hotels & Resorts, with the Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana and Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana hotel complexes, which opened their doors last year and will be closed until June 1, 2020. Guests who have booked a Hyatt Residence Club property through other than Hyatt means should contact Hyatt Residence Club.

They also said, “in order to foster care and make our members have fewer things to worry about during these challenging circumstances, the benefits of the World of Hyatt program will be expanded for all members globally.” Therefore, loss of points has been suspended until December 31, 2020. General policy stipulates that points do not expire, but they can be lost if a member’s account is inactive for 24 months. ”

All Free Nights, Suite Upgrade Rewards and Unused Club Lounge Access Rewards, with expiration dates between March 1, 2020 and December 31, 2020, will run through December 31, December 2021 ”. Includes existing and winnable rewards throughout the year with an expiration date of 2020. World of Hyatt will generate the rewards extension; members do not need to take additional steps.

Rewards that expired between March 1 and March 31, 2020 will be replaced with new rewards on April 20, 2020. The rest of the qualifying and unused rewards will be updated on the 20th of the month in which they would have originally expired. More time for elite members to enjoy their status and benefits:

Membership status and benefits will be extended to all elite members without having to re-qualify. This means that whatever the membership status as of March 31, 2020, be it Discoverist, Explorist or Globalist, it will automatically update to reflect February 28, 2022 as the new expiration date.
