MARINA CAP CANA: 2016 FISHING SEASON REPORT

Looking for hot fishing action? It’s hard to beat Cap Cana, in the Dominican Republic. Here are their season-long release numbers for 2016.

Boats from across the Caribbean fished from Marina Cap Cana in the Dominican Republic in 2016, tallying a total of 2,823 releases in a season that lasted 272 days. There were 15 grand slams, 14 double-digit days and one super slam by individual boats, and the official marina release record was broken on three separate occasions. The last resulted in a new single-day release record for Atlantic blue marlin at 23, set by the Blue Bird team (read more here of their record-setting day).

Billfish totals by species included 1,404 white marlin; 1,242 blue marlin, 154 sailfish and 23 spearfish. Marina Cap Cana is also home to several international tournaments including the Cap Cana Classic, Dominican Republic Big Five and the Cap Cana Billfish Shootout.
