PUNTA ESPADA GOLF COURSE IN CAP CANA, RECOGNIZED AS THE SECOND BEST IN THE CARIBBEAN AND # 1 IN THE DR.

Since its inception, it has managed to stay among the favorites of the Caribbean region and Mexico, having won multiple awards, including one of the 100 best courses in the world.

Cap Cana, Dominican Republic. February, 2018. – The Punta Espada golf course, located in the tourist, hotel and real estate destination of Cap Cana, was once again selected among the first places in the Caribbean area.

 

The specialized magazine USA Today 10 Best, in its annual ranking to choose the “10 best golf courses in the Caribbean”, placed for this 2018 Cap Cana’s Punta Espada as the second best in the Caribbean and the # 1 in the Dominican Republic , above countries such as Barbados, Turks and Caicos, Puerto Rico, Bahamas and Jamaica.

 

A panel of experts consisting of the top 10 editors initially selected the 20 finalists, and subsequently by popular vote the winners were chosen. Voters gave the first place for the Caribbean to the Old Quarry golf course in Curaçao.

 

The Punta Espada golf course, from the signature design of the legendary Jack Nicklaus, has since its foundation, remained among the favorites of the Caribbean region and Mexico, having won multiple awards, among them, as one of the 100 best courses in the world. It is a challenging golf course, par 72, cataloged as “unique and spectacular” considering that 8 of its 18 holes are facing the sea and that each and every one of the 18 holes have views of the Caribbean Sea. Its design incorporates the natural characteristics of the landscape to its topography: the cliffs, the beach, the coves and the greenery, guaranteeing the enjoyment of golfers of all levels, including those participating in world championships.

 

Important professional players such as Greg Norman, Fred Couples, Nick Price, Bernhard Langer, Tom Watson and Gary Player, among others, have experienced playing at Punta Espada and agree on the appreciation of their characteristics as a challenging golf course, where they have intertwined masterfully the natural elements and the stunning views. Punta Espada hosted the “Cap Cana Championship”, official PGA Champions Tour tournament held in 2008, 2009 and 2010, where Mark Wiebe, Keith Fergus and Fred Couples won, respectively.
