International Chef’s Day was celebrated on October 20. This day was established by the World Culinary Association to honor those in charge of creating the most exquisite dishes in the world.
Secrets Cap Cana is pleased to congratulate Ibai Torres, a splendid Executive Chef that, with his team, delights guests with his exquisite dishes.
Little did Ibai Torres know when he left Miami, that he would be enamored with the Dominican Republic. He says, “When my wife and I left Spain, we said that we’d come here for 5 years, now, our daughter is Dominican born and we will stay for 5 more years.”
Secrets Cap Cana is commited to redefine the all-inclusive experience by fulfilling all the wishes guests might have and even exceed their expectations. Torres has an impressive background in haute cuisine. He took his first steps in the gastronomic world in his hometown, San Sebastián, where he studied and began to forge his career in different restaurants. One of the restaurants, called ARZAK, had three Michelin stars. Here, he had the opportunity to develop his talent, passion and put into practice all his creativity in the kitchen.
He continued his carreer, leaving behind San Sebastián to continue exploring and enriching his gastronomic and cultural knowledge for Spanish cuisine, learning the wonderful gastronomic varieties in cities such as Alicante and Madrid; until he crossed the occean to the Americas and embarked on the adventure of being a chef in Miami.
He has a vast experience in working with high-end hotels in Mexico, Punta Cana and now his current home, Secrets Cap Cana Resort & Spa.
