THE CAP CANA FOUNDATION PARTICIPATES IN RECYCLING ART FAIR, ‘RECICLA 360’

The Cap Cana Foundation wowed the public of Galería 360 with a unique art piece made by the volunteers of the Foundation. With the purpose of promoting the culture of the 3R’s, which consists of reducing, reusing and recycling, Galería 360, a renowned shopping center in Santo Domingo holds the seventh edition of its “Recicla 360” recycling fair.

The main pillar of Cap Cana’s participation in Recicla 360 is to reuse elements to create a work of art that reflects the diversity, life and beauty of the nature of Cap Cana. This piece represents the home of the 8 endemic species that live in Cap Cana & was made with a tree branch that was recovered by the responsible pruning program from a tree of our golf course, Punta Espada. Each stem was covered by hand with knitting yarn and the flowers were made with newspaper by volunteers from the Cap Cana Foundation. The base is a paint bucket covered with trousers and the base in which it is placed is from restored wood and was part of the Colombian television program called Desafio, produced in Cap Cana. The postcards were printed on recycled paper & they represent a way to take a little of the species in Cap Cana to Santo Domingo, it’s their way of saying hello.

The exhibition’s inauguration was held on World Environment Day (June 5) & will be open to the public until June 30th. “The purpose of this fair is to raise awareness among the attending public about the need to create a culture of responsible consumption and waste management”, explained Fernando García, president of Galería 360. García said that during the fair, the mall encourages restaurants and food establishments to reduce single-use disposables and plastics, as well as explore environmentally friendly alternatives, such as biodegradable and organic items.
